Advancement Via Individual Determination Program (AVID I, II, III, IV) as an innovative course for your district was approved by the State Board of Education in their July meeting. Students participating in this course may count it as elective credit(s) in their graduation program as specified in §74.27 (relating to Innovative Courses and Programs).
We will be posting the notification of this approval along with the appropriate PEIMS code(s) and course abbreviation(s) for use on the Academic Achievement Record (AAR) within a few weeks to our Texas Website.
If you have any questions, Please feel free to contact us.

Do the individual school districts participating in AVID submit their own application for the Innovative Course?
The only application necessary for the AVID Elective course approval is the one I submitted to TEA last week. Individual school districts are not required to submit their own application.
How is the application approved without the superintendent's name and date for board approval? This question came from a school district who is presenting to their Board next week. I explained that the application is submitted by AVID Center for all districts in TX implementing AVID programs. Board approval is required on the application itself only if a school district is making the application, not AVID Center as an outside organization. |
